Day 13: STAGE 11

Game over only one day before the end

While he had done everything to get closer to a long-awaited final victory, Sébastien Loeb will not win this 46th edition of the Dakar. All our hopes for victory now rest on Xavier de Soultrait, who continues to fight for the first position in the SSV category.

Loeb unlucky again…

Everything seemed to be falling into place for Sébastien Loeb. As he gained several minutes each day on the leader, we could believe in his chances of victory, but fate had other plans. Victim of 5 punctures and a breakdown, the Franco-Belgian crew lost more than an hour and a half in the adventure. They thus lose their chances of winning the Dakar but remain close to a place on the podium.

Due to the issues faced today, the Frenchman drops to the 3rd position in the overall standings

Xavier de Soultrait’s refusal to comply comes at a high cost

Xavier de Soultrait incurs a 20-minute penalty today for refusing three times to let a SSV overtake him yesterday. His comfortable lead is now reduced to a mere thread. He holds a lead of only 2 minutes and 49 seconds over his pursuer.

Xavier de Soultrait and Florent Vayssade finish the stage in 4th and 8th positions, respectively. They currently hold the 1st and 8th places in the overall standings.

Day 12: STAGE 10

A new stage and new problems

Although the drivers took precautions for the stage of the day, it did not spare them. Despite punctures and mechanical problems, Sébastien Loeb managed well, and the SSVs of Sébastien Loeb Racing did as well.

Closer and closer….

Although Sébastien Loeb was not lucky today, he was not the only one. Fortunately for him, the category leader, Carlos Sainz, also experienced a mechanical issue. This allowed our driver to gain more than 7 minutes on the leader.

He finished 17th in the stage and reduced the overall gap to 13 minutes.

Al-Attiyah had to abandon the Dakar 2024 this morning and will not cross the finish line this Friday.

Day 11: STAGE 9

Full speed ahead to Alula!

Pilots might not have time to appreciate the stunning landscapes they traverse. Initially, the course seems easy, but it becomes deceptive very quickly. Navigation becomes more complicated when the tracks are harder to see than to follow. Moreover, driving on rocky plateaus requires a solid technique to maintain the perfect pace.

And a fourth victory for Loeb!

Despite 2 punctures, Sébastien Loeb does not give up in his quest for victory! A splendid first place today allows him to regain 4 minutes on the leader. He remains in second place and continues to widen the gap with his pursuer in the overall standings.

Due to a mechanical issue, Al-Attiyah did not compete in today’s special stage. He now has only one more chance if he hopes to score points.

Another podium for Xavier de Soultrait!

Xavier de Soultrait continues to deliver strong performances. The SSV driver finishes in the 2nd position on the podium in the 9th stage. His placement allows him to maintain the lead in the overall standings with a 28-minute advantage.

As forFlorent Vayssade, he finishes in the7thposition in this stage. This result brings him closer to the top 10 in the SSV category. He is currently 12th in the overall standings.

Day 10: STAGE 8

On the way to Ha’il, a city rich in history!

Sébastien Loeb, Xavier de Soultrait, and Florent Vayssade all took the wheel this morning with the sole objective of reaching Ha’il as quickly as possible. This city was once the capital of the entire Arabian desert and is now known as the cradle of many legends.

An 8th stage and a 2nd checkpoint missed…

Still in pursuit, Sébastien Loeb unsuccessfully attempts to narrow the gap separating him from a first victory. After making a mistake in today’s stage, he finishes 10th and trails the leader by 24 minutes. Nevertheless, he remains in 2nd place in the overall standings.

Unfortunately, Al-Attiyah is forced to retire from this 46th edition of the Dakar after the engine of his Hunter Prodrive was damaged.

Xavier de Soultrait in excellent shape!

Xavier de Soultrait continues his momentum and secures another podium. He finishes 2nd in today’s stage, solidifying his position as the overall leader. He now holds a lead of over 7 minutes.

After a nightmarish 7th stage where they waited for assistance for several hours, Florent Vayssade and his co-driver seem to have better luck today. They finish 9th in this stage and currently hold the 13th position in the overall standings.

Day 9: STAGE 7

On the way to the second and final week of the Dakar!

After the 48-hour chrono stage, crews from all categories were able to rest for a day. It was an opportunity for our drivers to recover from the emotions of this unprecedented and historic stage. Having won the stage victory in their respective categories and rested, Sébastien Loeb and Xavier de Soultrait were ready to tackle the upcoming stages with confidence.

The rally resumes this Sunday 14/01 with the longest stage of this 46th edition: 873km of racing, including 483km of special stages.

A 3rd victory for Loeb !

Sébastien Loeb secures his third stage victory! He now has a total of 26 wins at the Dakar and is only 19 minutes behind the leader in his category. As for Al-Attiyah, he takes the 3rd step on the podium. This marks the second double podium for Team Prodrive.

Sébastien Loeb continues his climb in the overall standings and currently holds the 2nd position. His teammate, Al-Attiyah, drops down to 11th place due to an issue encountered during the chrono stage.

Suspense to the end for this stage where anything can still happen!

An unprecedented strategy for an unprecedented stage.

Sébastien Loeb, intentionally finishing 42nd yesterday, sees his strategy pay off. A bold move that allows him to finish in 5th place for the first part of the stage. Al-Attiyah leads his teammate and finishes in 2nd place for the moment.

It’s worth noting that Sébastien Loeb, starting farther back and later, has not yet reached Al-Attiyah‘s checkpoint. Everything is not settled until the finish tomorrow.
